Risk and Protective Factors of Online Gambling in Adults

Online Gambling is an emerging phenomenon that is growing fast. Consequently, it is important to understand the factors associated with this behaviour. To this end, a literature search was conducted to identify all peer-reviewed articles related to the risk and protective factors of gambling online in adults. The included papers met the following inclusion criteria: population (P), intervention (I), comparison (C) and outcome (O). The analysis of the results shows that several factors influence online gambling. These are mainly contextual, but there is also evidence that individual determinants play an important role.

Convenience

One of the main advantages of gambling online is convenience. You can gamble on your computer, tablet or smartphone anywhere, at any time – as long as you have an internet connection. This means that you don’t need to get dressed up or travel to a physical casino, which saves time and money. Online casinos also offer a variety of payment methods, so you can choose the one that is best for you.

Furthermore, online casinos offer a safe and secure environment. Many of them use sophisticated encryption technology to protect your financial information and identity. They also promote responsible gambling and offer tools like deposit limits, self-exclusion and reality checks to help you control your gambling habits. In addition, some online casinos offer loyalty rewards programs that can earn you free spins on slots or hands in your favorite games. This is a great way to make the most of your online gambling experience!
